How is the inheritance of a grandfather who passed away, leaving behind a wife and three daughters, and two sons who had passed away before him, one of whom left a son, a daughter, and a wife, and the other left a daughter and a wife, to be divided, knowing that the inheritance amounts to 26,0 pounds?

The deceased grandfather's wife receives one-eighth, and his living daughters receive two-thirds, based on the Almighty's saying: (Allah instructs you concerning your children: for the male, what is equal to the share of two females. But if there are [only] daughters, two or more, for them is two thirds of what he left), and the Almighty's saying: (And for them [i.e., wives] is one fourth of what you leave if you have no child. But if you have a child, for them is an eighth of what you leave, after any bequest you [may have] made or debt).

As for the remainder, it is divided among the grandfather's grandchildren, with the male receiving the share of two females. This is indicated by the hadith: "Give the prescribed shares to those who are entitled to them; then whatever remains is for the closest male relative." There is nothing for the wives of the grandfather's sons.

In the event that there is an 'asabah (agnate) grandson with a granddaughter of the same degree, the grandson makes his sister and his paternal cousin 'asabah.

Accordingly, the mentioned amount is divided as follows: - 3250 for the deceased's wife. - 17333.3 for the deceased's daughters. - 1354.25 for each granddaughter (daughter of a son). - 2708.5 for the grandson (son of a son) (double the share of each of them).
