What is the ruling on zinā committed in childhood?

A child before puberty is not obligated to perform duties or abstain from prohibitions, and what he commits thereof is not recorded against him, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The pen has been lifted from three: from the sleeper until he awakens, from the child until he reaches puberty, and from the insane until he regains his sanity." This is a matter of consensus among scholars. However, the guardians of the young child must prevent him from prohibitions and accustom him to acts of obedience.
