What is the ruling on helping a sister who adorns herself immodestly (mutabarrijah) and prays, or a brother who neglects prayer out of laziness, when one is unable to compel them? And is it permissible to bargain with them over the hijab or prayer in exchange for help?

Abandoning prayer is one of the gravest sins, and some scholars consider it an act of disbelief that expels one from the fold of Islam. Displaying oneself (tabarruj) and abandoning the hijab (definition) are major sins, based on the Almighty’s saying: "And do not display yourselves as [was] the display of the former times of ignorance" and "to lower over themselves their outer garments."

Therefore, sinners must be advised, and the danger of sins must be made clear without compromise. Assistance should be offered if they are in need, provided it is not used for unlawful purposes. It is preferable to offer advice gently and kindly, along with useful gifts such as religious tapes and books, for the reward of guiding one person is better than red camels.
