Does a man's failure to pray in congregation lead to the removal of blessings from his life and wealth? And what is the evidence for that?

Prayer is the pillar of Islam and the greatest obligation after the two testimonies of faith. Many verses and authentic hadiths have attested to its importance, such as His Almighty's saying: "Guard strictly the prayers, especially the middle prayer," and "Establish prayer. Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing." Allah made prayer the companion of monotheism and commanded its establishment after repentance from polytheism.

Among the most important duties of prayer for a man is performing it in congregation. Allah made it obligatory even in a state of fear, as He said: "And when you are among them and lead them in prayer, let a group of them stand with you." The Prophet (peace be upon him) emphasized the importance of congregational prayer and did not permit even a blind man to absent himself from it.

Failure to attend congregational prayer leads to negligence towards prayer and eventually abandoning it altogether. It has been stated in the authentic hadith (definition): "The covenant between us and them is prayer; whoever abandons it has disbelieved," and "Between a man and polytheism and disbelief is the abandonment of prayer." This indicates that abandoning prayer is major disbelief. The Companions unanimously agreed that abandoning prayer is major disbelief, unlike those who disagreed with them later. Sins, including abandoning prayer, cause the effacement of blessings, diminish sustenance, and bring about calamities, as Allah Almighty said: "And whatever calamity strikes you, it is because of what your hands have earned." A believer must be wary of sins and keen on acts of obedience.
