Is it permissible to enter the lavatory (bathroom) while carrying a book, regardless of the type of material it contains?

It is disliked or forbidden to bring books containing the Beautiful Names of Allah or Quranic verses into the bathroom, as this shows a lack of reverence for the symbols of Allah. As for books devoid of the mention of Allah, they should not be brought in for reading, because it is recommended to be silent while relieving oneself unless there is an important reason, and because prolonged stay in the bathroom leads to illnesses. The jurists mentioned that it is not recommended to take anything containing the remembrance of Allah into the lavatory, while they did not prohibit taking in anything containing human speech or alphabetical letters.
