How can one deal with a potential mutual admiration between a committed young man and a veiled young woman, while fearing temptation (fitna)?

A young person's commitment and religiosity are the cause of their success and academic excellence, and mixed-gender universities corrupt young people and distract them from their academic achievements, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "I have not left behind me a trial more harmful to men than women." The basic principle regarding joining mixed-gender universities is prohibition, unless certain Sharia-compliant conditions are observed, including: ensuring one's self and religion are safe from temptation (fitnah). If a young man or woman fears temptation for themselves, it is not permissible for them to join mixed-gender universities. Safety from temptation can be achieved by adhering to righteous company, breaking desires through fasting and lowering the gaze, or by relying on recorded notes and explanations and limiting attendance to what is absolutely necessary, or by moving to other branches or universities in conservative areas, or through early marriage. The cornerstone of all this is piety towards Allah.
