What is the ruling on arguing in the mosque between the Adhan and the establishment of the prayer?

Mosques are built for worship, and they must be protected from anything that disturbs worshipers and reciters, such as raising voices, quarreling, and disputing within them. 'Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, disliked such actions. Al-Nawawi said: "It is disliked to quarrel in the mosque, to raise voices therein, to announce lost items, to buy and sell, and similar contracts." 'Umar indeed built an area next to the mosque for people to converse, in order to keep the mosque free from clamor, reciting poetry, and raising voices. This indicates the dislike for such actions and the purification of mosques.
