How do I place the fear of Allah before my eyes?

The fear of Allah can be attained by knowing the ugliness of sin, believing in the divine threat (of punishment), and fearing deprivation from repentance. The strength of this fear grows or wanes in proportion to the intensity of these matters. Fear also arises from the knowledge of Allah and His attributes. Whoever knows Allah and understands that He is All-Hearing, All-Seeing, and Severe in Punishment, this knowledge will instill fear of Him. Therefore, the more a servant knows about Allah, the more intense their fear becomes. That is why the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was the most fearful among people, because he was the most knowledgeable of people concerning his Lord.
