Is it permissible to narrate a Prophetic Hadith with some alteration of its wording?

It is permissible to narrate a Hadith by its meaning for someone who understands the language and is secure from error or altering the meanings. However, the الفاظ متعبد بها (words of worship) such as adhkar (remembrances) and du'as (supplications) that are authentically transmitted, are not permissible to narrate by meaning, by consensus. Some scholars have also included jawami' al-kalim (concise yet comprehensive) Hadiths in this category.
