Is the 'Aqiqah obligatory by slaughtering a separate animal for each child, or is one calf sufficient for three children?

Al-Aqiqah is what is slaughtered for a newborn out of gratitude to Allah under specific conditions. It is a Sunnah (recommended act) and not obligatory. Two sheep are sacrificed for a male and one sheep for a female, as stated in the Hadith: "For a boy, two equivalent sheep, and for a girl, one sheep." A cow or a calf is not sufficient for three children.
