Is it permissible to give Zakat al-Mal (obligatory charity on wealth) to one's grandmother, and what is the ruling concerning someone who unknowingly gave it to her on previous occasions?

It is not permissible to give anything from a grandchild's to his grandmother, because she is among his ascendants. If one gives it to her, it is not considered valid, and he must pay the Zakat on his wealth again.
