Is it permissible for a man whose wife does not satisfy his sexual desires, and who is considering marrying another or divorcing her due to his inability to marry a second, to divorce his wife while there are problems between her and his mother?

A second marriage is obligatory for whoever fears falling into fornication, even if she is already married, because safeguarding oneself and protecting it from the forbidden is a duty. Divorcing the first wife may negatively affect the children, and the default ruling for divorce is prohibition except when necessary; otherwise, it is foolishness and imprudence. One should be deliberate in matters of divorce, be patient, strive to preserve the family, and safeguard oneself through fasting and remembrance of Allah, and the Prophetic supplication: "O Allah, I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and self-sufficiency." If circumstances become dire and one fears falling into indecency, and the benefit of separating from the first wife to marry another outweighs other considerations, then there is no harm in that; rather, it may be obligatory. Allah Almighty says: {But if they separate [by divorce], Allah will enrich each [of them] from His abundance.}
