What is the expiation for someone who commits adultery twice in Ramadan on two different days? Is it a condition for the two months of fasting as expiation to be consecutive, or must one start fasting anew if it is interrupted? Is the expiation a single one, or does it multiply with the number of days?

Whoever committed this great sin must strive for sincere repentance and perform many good deeds that expiate sins.

As for the necessary expiation, it is: freeing a slave. If unable, then fasting for two consecutive months. If unable, then feeding sixty poor persons. And for each act of intercourse, a separate expiation is required.

The questioner's reluctance to mention the reason for fasting is not an excuse to abandon what Allah has enjoined upon him. He can fast without anyone knowing, or by suggesting that it is a fast he is obligated to perform or a vow he has made.

As for illness and travel, they do not interrupt the continuity of fasting. So, if he falls ill or travels, he continues his fast and does not restart it.
