Is it permissible for a woman to supplicate for her father from inside a car parked in front of the cemetery? What is the virtue of greeting the deceased? 1. Supplicating for the deceased is permissible, whether at their graves or far from them. This is evidenced by the supplication of a righteous child for their parents, and the Prophet's (peace be upon him) command to seek forgiveness for the people of Al-Baqi'.

2. The spirits of the deceased return to them when they are greeted with Salam so that they may return the greeting. The fact that they hear is indicated by the addressing of Salam, which is only addressed to those who can hear. The deceased benefits from this Salam by having their torment alleviated.

3. The visit of the deceased to the homes of the living on Friday is not established in Islamic law. This is among the unseen matters that cannot be asserted with certainty due to the absence of a religious text proving it.
