Is it permissible for me to greet my deceased father when passing by his grave?

Women's visitation of graves is a matter of dispute, and the safer course is to avoid it. It is permissible for a woman to greet graves if she passes by them without the intention of visiting, but it is not legislated to greet a cemetery merely by seeing it from afar. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to teach his Companions when they went out to the graveyards to say: "Peace be upon you, inhabitants of these abodes, among the believers and Muslims, and indeed, if Allah wills, we shall join you. I ask Allah for well-being for us and for you." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed women who frequently visit graves, but it is permissible for her to greet them when passing by without visiting.
