What is the ruling on wearing gold and clothes, or using any tool in the house that contains three-dimensional shapes such as a whale, a human head, or a mythical creature? A house containing a dog or pictures of animate beings is not entered by angels. Pictures include statues, drawings, and photographs, with the exception of children's toys. Based on this, it is not permissible to wear clothes that contain pictures or to keep pictures of animate beings, unless there is a necessity, such as personal photos for official documents, and it is not permissible to hang them. As for wearing gold or items containing gold, it is forbidden for men and permissible for women, unless it has pictures of animate beings on it. An exception to the ruling on pictures and sculptures is that which has a severed head or that without which life cannot be sustained.
