Wherein lies my right and wrong from a Sharia perspective regarding my husband’s treatment of me, and what are my rights and duties, especially given his failure to provide a home, his refusal to adequately spend on me, his constant comparison of me to his other wife, and his depriving me of bearing children?

A husband must be just between his wives in terms of lodging. It is not a condition that the dwelling be owned by him; it is sufficient that he possesses its usufruct. Financial support (nafaqa) is obligatory according to what is customary, based on the circumstances of both spouses. It is not obligatory to equalize between wives in terms of gifts, endowments, dowry, furniture, and similar items. For a husband to compare his wife to another in physical attributes is not considered good companionship. The wife should communicate with her husband gently and wisely to explain her rights, and she should treat him well. She must avoid supplicating against him in ways that are impermissible; rather, she should pray for his goodness and righteousness.
