Does the criminal deserve to have his severed hand reattached after the punishment of amputation has been carried out?

The thief is not entitled to have his severed hand reattached, as this would obliterate the signs of punishment and weaken deterrence, dissuasion, and admonition. This contradicts the perfection of the retribution and exemplary punishment mentioned in His (the Almighty's) saying: "As for the thief, male or female, amputate their hands as a recompense for what they have earned, an exemplary punishment from Allah. And Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise."
