How can one get rid of the whispers of showing off (riya') in acts of worship, especially when performing acts of obedience in the absence of one's wife?

The whisperings that come to the questioner’s mind are but delusions cast by Satan, with the aim of discouraging him from worship and obedience. Therefore, he should not pay attention to them, and he should increase in worship and strive against himself for sincerity.
