What is the ruling of Islamic law regarding the gold requested from the suitor, and is it divided equally between the two parties?

If the husband frequently threatens his wife with divorce, he is doing wrong, and the wife should discuss this with him and explain that this conduct is not sound, and that marital life cannot be sustained in such a state. She can seek assistance from some wise relatives to speak with him. If that does not help and he wishes to divorce her, she is entitled to half of the entire mahr. If gold was part of the mahr, she gets half of it. However, if the gold was a gift outside of the mahr, he has the right to reclaim all of it.
