Is it permissible for a woman observing her iddah to travel to another city to visit her sick daughter?

A woman whose husband has passed away must not leave her home at night except out of necessity. However, she is permitted to go out during the day if there is a need. Therefore, if the mother's visit to her sister requires her to spend the night outside her home or to go out at night, then it is not permissible. However, if the visit is during the day and for a need, then it is permissible. If it is not for a need, but merely to visit a sick person, then it is more cautious to refrain from it, and some scholars have explicitly stated its prohibition. Others hold the view that she is permitted to go out during the day for her needs and other purposes.
