It is disliked to eat while reclining for one who is able to sit, due to the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Indeed, I do not eat while reclining." This is not considered , and it is the opinion of the majority of scholars. More than one of the Companions and their successors ate while reclining. The reason for the dislike is the fear of an enlarged belly.
