Does Dhihar occur if a husband says to his wife: "You are like my mother and my sister," intending thereby to threaten her and to abstain from intercourse, and not intending divorce, given a previous divorce?

What was uttered by the husband is ẓihār, even if he was ignorant, and he must not have intercourse with his wife until after performing the expiation for ẓihār. This expiation is the freeing of a believing slave; if he cannot find one, then fasting for two consecutive months; if he is unable to do that, then feeding sixty poor people. It is not permissible for the wife to allow him to have intercourse before the expiation is performed.
