The answer

The seller often relies on manufacturer specifications and licenses from responsible authorities. Therefore, there is no deception on his part if he relies on these in his sale without inspecting the item. However, if a defect appears that necessitates a return, the buyer has the option [to return it]. It is permissible to buy and sell based on written descriptions; if the item is found to match the description, the sale is binding. Otherwise, the buyer has the choice [to proceed or not]. It is permissible to sell what the seller does not own through a salam contract, provided certain conditions are met, including the immediate قبض of the price at the time of the contract.
