How can the noble verse: (O you who have believed, spend from that which We have provided for you before there comes a Day in which there will be no exchange and no friendship and no intercession; and the disbelievers - they are the wrongdoers) be reconciled with the noble verse: (They possess no [power of] intercession except [for] he who has taken a covenant in the presence of the Most Merciful), in order to refute the شبهة (misconception/doubt) of contradiction between them regarding intercession?

There is no contradiction in the Qur’an. The negated intercession therein is intercession for disbelievers, or intercession for believers without Allah Almighty’s permission. The affirmed intercession is intercession for believers after His permission and His satisfaction with both the intercessor and the one interceded for. Allah is the sole owner of all intercession, and no one intercedes except by His permission and satisfaction. Thus, the negated intercession means that the ownership of intercession belongs to no one but Allah, and the affirmed intercession is for Allah Almighty alone.
