What is the ruling on killing stray dogs that damage crops, and does the ruling include killing a female dog that has recently given birth to puppies?

If it is possible to prevent dogs from entering the crop by means of a barrier, then that is preferable to killing them. However, if their harm cannot be repelled except by killing, then it is permissible to kill them, even if some of them have pups.
