Is it permissible to kill harmful stray animals (birds, dogs, cats, donkeys) that damage crops and homes?

Harmful birds should not be killed unless there is no other way to avert their harm. If they are killed, it should be done in a way that allows for their benefit. As for harmful dogs, it is permissible to kill them if their harm cannot be averted by any other means. In general, any animal proven to be harmful and injurious may be killed, but without torture. However, if its harm can be averted without killing, then it is not permissible to kill it.
