What is the ruling on killing domestic animals that have become wild and destructive to farms?

It is permissible to kill harmful animals to remove their danger, and it is obligatory to slaughter animals whose meat is eaten with a lawful Islamic slaughter (dhakāt shar‘īyah). When killing other animals, care should be taken to take their lives in the best possible manner. Jurists such as Al-Hattab, Al-Nawawi, and Ibn ‘Asim have stipulated the desirability of killing harmful creatures to ward off their danger from Muslims.
