Which is more deserving: sacrificing the 'aqeeqah for children or sacrificing for the new home, and what is the method, intention, and naming for sacrificing for the home?
The 'aqiqah is a confirmed Sunnah, and its best time is on the seventh day of the newborn's life, then the fourteenth, then the twenty-first, then at any time it becomes easy, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Every child is mortgaged by its 'aqiqah, which is slaughtered for him on his seventh day." As for slaughtering before entering the house, if it is an expression of gratitude to Allah, then there is no harm in it. However, if it is to ward off jinn or the evil eye, and so forth, then it is not permissible, and it may even amount to polytheism (shirk).
