Should a deceased infant, a month old, be washed in the same manner as adults?
If a child is born alive, even for a moment, or if they reach four months of age or more and then die as a miscarriage: they are to be washed, prayed over, and buried like an adult. This is based on the hadith from Mughirah ibn Shu'bah, where the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "(A miscarried fetus) is prayed over, and forgiveness and mercy are supplicated for its parents."
It is permissible for both men and women to wash a deceased child if they are seven years old or younger.
