Jumanah was a sister of Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him. It is an Arabized Persian word meaning "pearl." Naming with it is Islamically permissible, and there is no objection to it. Many women have been named with it, some of them from the descendants of Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, and men have also been named with it, but its use for women is more common and well-known.
