Anal intercourse with one's wife is a major sin, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed its perpetrator. It is forbidden even if both parties consent. Among the wisdom behind its prohibition is that it was never permitted by the tongue of a prophet; it necessarily involves harm; it deprives the woman of her right; the anus was not prepared for this act; it is harmful to both the man and the woman; it corrupts the state of both the perpetrator and the one acted upon; it removes modesty; it alters dispositions; and it instills brazenness.
