Why must a woman pray behind a man?

The believer's affair is based on submission to what Allah and His Messenger have ordained. The prayer of a woman behind a man has been established by the Sunnah and adhered to by the Companions. Whoever contravenes this, Allah has threatened them with severe punishment. Allah Almighty says: "So let those beware who dissent from his order, lest fitnah strike them or there come upon them a painful punishment." And the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever turns away from my Sunnah is not of me." Among the wisdoms of a woman praying behind a man is that prayer is a connection between the worshipper and his Lord, and anything that distracts from it is to be removed. A woman is among the greatest temptations of this world for a man, so her standing in front of him or next to him is a cause for temptation and distraction. Therefore, "The best rows for women are the last, and the worst are the first, and the best rows for men are the first, and the worst are the last."
