What is the ruling on young people wearing amulets (for protection), and is it true that Imam Malik and Imam Nawawi permitted them?

What was attributed to Malik and An-Nawawi regarding the permissibility of hanging amulets is conditional on the wearer not believing that the amulets themselves remove harm, but rather attributing the effect to Allah alone, and that the amulets be from the Qur’an or legitimate supplications. An-Nawawi said: “As for what is hung for blessing, with the remembrance of Allah Almighty in it, and he knows that none can remove harm except Allah and none can ward it off except Him, then there is no harm in it, Allah willing.”
