What is the ruling on the obligatory and supererogatory prayers performed before knowing the prohibition of masturbation and repenting from it, and what is your advice for raising awareness about it and avoiding it?

Repentance from masturbation is obligatory due to its harms and corruptions. If it does not result in the emission of semen, then it does not necessitate ghusl (ritual bath). However, if semen is emitted, ghusl becomes obligatory. The prayers performed before taking ghusl from janabah (state of impurity requiring ghusl) must be made up, if their number is known, or one should make up what is most likely to clear one's conscience. As for fasting, it remains valid in all cases, even if masturbation was practiced during the daytime in Ramadan out of ignorance.
