Is it permissible to take out a marriage loan to overcome the difficulties of providing the dowry and expenses, given the straitened circumstances, numerous responsibilities, people's talk, and in order to preserve the legitimate engagement relationship?
If the loan is a good loan and without increase, then there is no harm in taking it, and may Allah help in repaying it. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: (Three are حق upon Allah to help them...) and (Whoever takes people's money intending to repay it, Allah will repay on his behalf). As for an interest-based loan, it is not permissible to take it for marriage or for anything else, due to the severe warning and war from Allah and His Messenger involved in it. One must be patient, rely on Allah, and exert efforts to earn lawful sustenance, such as tawaruq, which is buying a commodity in installments then selling it for cash to someone other than the seller. Also, it is not permissible to establish a relationship with a girl before being able to marry. The Permanent Committee has issued a fatwa stating that it is not permissible to take an interest-based loan to provide the dowry.
