Is it possible for a Muslim to be envied for his recitation of the Qur’an, or his leading the prayer, or the call to prayer (adhan), if a passerby hears him?

We have nothing definitive concerning this matter. However, it is not far-fetched for envy to occur upon hearing a beautiful recitation or Adhan (definition), leading someone to admire it and afflict it with the evil eye. A Muslim should be diligent in performing good deeds such as remembrances (dhikr) and congregational prayers, as these protect him from evils. And whoever casts the evil eye should be keen to avoid harming people and should consistently say, "What Allah wills! There is no power except with Allah," and supplicate for blessing when he sees or hears something that impresses him.
