How does a woman place her hands when bowing (ruku') and prostrating (sujud) in prayer?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The correct manner of placing the hands during ruku' (bowing) is to place the right hand on the right knee and the left hand on the left knee, with the fingers spread apart. The worshiper should level their head with their back. As for sujud (prostration), the worshiper places their hands on the ground, level with their shoulders, with their fingers held together and pointing towards the Qiblah. Prostration is performed on seven limbs: the forehead and nose, both hands, both knees, and the tips of both feet. There is no difference in this between men and women, except that it is recommended for women to bring some parts of their body closer to others during ruku' and sujud.
