What is the ruling on a merchant selling goods requested by a customer, which the merchant then buys from the supplier and delivers to the customer?

It is not permissible to sell a commodity before possessing and acquiring it, due to the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibition of "selling what you do not own," and his prohibition of selling goods where they are purchased until merchants transport them to their own places.
