Scholars have differed regarding the permissibility for an agent, entrusted with distributing charity, to take from it for himself if he is eligible, or to give it to his father or son. While the Malikis permitted this, the Hanbalis forbade it. The preponderant opinion is the permissibility for the agent to take from it for himself if he is eligible, and the permissibility of giving it to his needy father or other eligible recipients.
