What is the ruling on drawing animate beings for the purpose of amusement, then immediately erasing and effacing them?
Many religious texts have been revealed that forbid image-making, curse image-makers, and state that they will be among those most severely punished on the Day of Resurrection. Thus, every image-maker is in the Fire, and everyone who makes an image in this world will be commanded on the Day of Resurrection to breathe a soul into it, but will not be able to. Scholars have unanimously agreed that the basis for the prohibition in image-making is the depiction of animate beings, whether by carving, painting, or weaving, and whether by hand or by machine, and whether the object is in its natural state or imagination has been incorporated into it. As for that which is not an animate being, it is permissible to draw it. Drawing animate beings is one of the major sins, and it is not permissible to use it for amusement, because amusement cannot be found in that which Allah has forbidden.
