The husband must protect his wife and children from his family's harm. It is advised to be patient in the face of harm, to respond to ill-treatment with kindness, to manage them with diplomacy, and to try to convince the husband of the necessity of providing separate housing to avert much of their evil and harm. He should be made to understand that allowing his family free rein over his finances has negative consequences for his household. Divorce is not advised unless the husband fails to respond to the request for separate housing despite his ability to provide it, or if the harm to the wife in her residence persists and the husband does not protect her from his family, and she can no longer bear it.
