Is it permissible to continue a marital relationship that faces parental disapproval due to the close age, while the girl refuses to leave him?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Kindness to one's mother and obedience to her are among the most emphasized duties, and disobeying her is among the most heinous prohibitions. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, enjoined kindness to the mother three times before the father. He also mentioned that whoever reaches old age with his parents, but does not enter Paradise, has indeed been disgraced, and that disobeying parents is one of the greatest major sins. There is no religious impediment preventing marriage to someone who is the same age as the suitor. However, mothers may see a benefit for their children that the children themselves do not perceive. The questioner should supplicate to Allah, begging Him to inspire them with what is right and to fear Allah, for "whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out and will provide for him from where he does not expect."
