What is the ruling on insisting that one's mother retract her command, and then not doing it?

Parents—especially the mother—hold a great status and have a significant right over their children. Therefore, it is obligatory to honor them, treat them kindly, and avoid harming them. It is permissible to discuss a matter with the mother respectfully and without insistence, as obedience to parents is not absolute and has limitations. It is commendable to honor the mother and do what she desires, as long as it does not involve disobedience [to Allah].
