Are the invocations such as "There is no might nor power except with Allah," seeking forgiveness, and praying upon the Prophet (peace be upon him) sufficient as an alternative to supplicating for a specific request? And is it forbidden for a Muslim to invoke death upon himself?

Whoever frequently engages in the remembrance of Allah Almighty, or invokes blessings upon the Prophet (peace be upon him), or seeks forgiveness, thereby seeking the fulfillment of their needs, is upon goodness, and it is hoped that their objective will be attained. This is based on the words of Allah Almighty: "Whoever is preoccupied with My remembrance from asking Me, I will give him better than what I give those who ask," and based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) statement to Ubayy: "Then your worries will be sufficient for you, and your sins will be forgiven," and based on the words of Allah Almighty: "And I said, 'Seek forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever Forgiving. He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [abundance] and give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers.'"
