What is the ruling concerning a woman who became pregnant through fornication?

Whoever has committed the grave sin of adultery must repent to Allah Almighty by abandoning the sin, regretting it, and resolving not to return to it. Allah has forbidden adultery and condemned approaching it, for it leads to the mixing of lineages and the loss of children.

If the questioner is married, the child is attributed to her husband, and she must offer sincere repentance and not inform her husband.

If she is unmarried, the child is attributed to her and not to the adulterer. It is forbidden for her to abort the fetus, and she must preserve it, along with sincere repentance and frequent seeking of forgiveness.
