Is it forbidden for a man to style his hair, such as by slicking it back, without imitating women?

A Muslim is obligated to take care of their hair and maintain a good appearance without exaggeration, or imitating women or non-Muslims. Several texts indicate this:

1. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade "much indulgence," which Buraydah interpreted as combing one's hair every day. The intention here is to dislike excessive pampering and grooming, not cleanliness itself. 2. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed men who imitate women and women who imitate men. 3. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever imitates a people is one of them."

Based on this, it is permissible to style the hair in the manner mentioned, as long as it does not involve these prohibitions.
