What is the ruling on a man combing his hair backward if it does not involve imitating disbelievers?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

A Muslim is responsible for his appearance, clothing, and hair, because Allah is beautiful and loves beauty. The Prophet (peace be upon him) commanded the care of hair, oiling it, and dyeing it. The Prophet (peace be upon him) also forbade everything that alters creation, such as Al-Qaza' (shaving parts of the head and leaving other parts), and imitating disbelievers. Therefore, there is no harm in caring for hair and combing it in any manner, as long as it does not involve imitating disbelievers or transgressors, or men imitating women or vice-versa, or Al-Qaza'.
