If every human being is born a Muslim by nature (fitra), then what is the need for religions and the sending of messengers?

The fitra (innate disposition) upon which a human is born is the fitra of Allah upon which He created humanity. It signifies freedom from false beliefs and acceptance of sound doctrines. It necessitates acknowledging the Creator, loving Him, and dedicating one's religion purely to Him. Fitra is not a detailed knowledge of Islam from birth, but rather a predisposition to truth. If a person were left to their fitra, they would be a Muslim. Fitra is likened to the soundness of the heart, free from defects, just as the body is sound, with any flaw being accidental. However, something may befall the fitra that corrupts it, similar to how dust obscures the sun's light from the eye. Our need for messengers and books arises to rectify and perfect the fitra when it is exposed to corruption.
