What is the ruling on a niqabi woman participating in a Qur’an memorization competition that requires her to remove her niqab in front of a male judging panel, and what is the ruling on reciting the Qur’an aloud in front of non-mahram men?

A woman must cover her face from non-mahram men. However, it is permissible for her to uncover it out of pressing necessity, such as working for her livelihood. That which is forbidden as a preventative measure (sadd al-dhari'ah) becomes permissible when there is a need, such as the permissibility of uncovering the 'awrah for medical treatment or uncovering the face for a suitor. But if there is no such need, then it is not permissible to uncover the face. There is no harm in a woman participating in Quranic competitions and reciting before men. It is preferable that the examination be conducted by women or in the presence of a mahram. If this is not feasible, then there is no harm.
